Is this the right tool for your job?

CHOOSE THIS WHEN
  • The documented job is “Run Airless Reach Work Safely — The Complete Guide”.
  • Extensive Reach : Extend your painting reach from 12 square feet to a remarkable 212 square feet without moving an inch. Ideal for painting stairwells, dormers, ductwork, steel beams, truss work, and expansive surfaces.
  • Variable Lengths : Telescoping design ranges from 4-1/2 feet up to 12 feet, allowing you to quickly and easily adjust the pole length for each job or painting position.
  • Anodized Aluminum Construction : The pole is made of easy-to-clean anodized aluminum, ensuring paint does not pass through the pole, maintaining its cleanliness and functionality.
CHOOSE A DIFFERENT TOOL WHEN
  • Not for standard rooms in any form: collapsed, this pole is still 7.5 feet — longer than the 28670's fully extended maximum — and under an 8-foot ceiling that is a tool you fight, not use.
  • Not for finish-grade surfaces: architectural standard at reach, handheld standard up close, and nothing inspected from eighteen inches gets sprayed from twelve feet.
  • Not a platform substitute for sustained single-height work or close-quarters detail — the Max wins by walking, and jobs that pin it under one spot give the advantage back to the lift.
  • Not a cut-in tool: corners, casings, and ceiling lines stay with the handheld gun the quick release lever gives back.

THE JOB, THE REASON, AND THE BETTER TOOL

How the pros run it

01

The arc problem, at its steepest

Your wrist swings naturally; at gun length that's an inch of standoff drift, and at the Max's full reach it's a foot — soaked pass centers, dusty pass ends. The cure is absolute at this length: the pole rides fixed against your frame, and your feet walk the pass at constant speed. If a pass needs steering mid-stroke, the pass was planned wrong.
02

Extend last, collapse first

Run the shortest length each band allows. The 7.5-foot minimum is the control end of this pole's personality; the 12-foot maximum is a reserve you spend only on the surfaces that demand it — and you collapse back down before carrying the pole anywhere.
03

Rhythm replaces eyesight

Film build on surfaces this far away cannot be read through glare, so the metronome is the instrument: fixed speed, fixed standoff, half-fan overlap, calibrated once in raking light and then trusted.
04

Remote-trigger honesty

The grip trigger works through linkage (mechanism undescribed in the claims) and feathers coarser than a gun blade under your finger. Start passes off the surface where geometry allows; where it doesn't, lap onto wet work. Precision lace-outs at altitude are not this tool's grammar.
05

Fatigue budgeting is quality control

Twelve feet of anodized aluminum is light for what it does — and Hyde's easy-grip trigger claim is aimed at the same problem — but a day of held leverage is real load. Schedule tall work in sessions; the last tired hour is where the arc problem comes home.

Asked before buying

BUYER QUESTIONS, ANSWERED BEFORE YOU ORDER
How high can it paint?
The claims give 12 feet of pole and the ladder positioning — no total-height figure exists for this model, and this page won't manufacture one . (The 16-foot number belongs to the 28680; reach arithmetic beyond that is inference the line register bars from spec use.)
Why is the minimum 7.5 feet?
Telescoping range is 7.5'–12' by design; a longer pole nests longer. Practical consequence: this pole never belongs in standard rooms — its collapsed length exceeds the 28670's maximum.
What pressure is it rated for?
Unstated in the QuickReach claims — obtain from Hyde or the manual before any certification-grade use of a number.
Will my gun fit the mount?
Hyde's claim is "standard guns and tips" — not a thread spec. Confirm your gun model against the product manual.
The tip clogged at full height — what now?
Lower the pole, lock the trigger, relieve pressure per your pump's procedure, then service the tip. Never at altitude, never live (section 2).
Max or a scaffold for my stairwell?
Mixed heights, real footing on treads, in-and-out schedule → Max (3a). Sustained detail at one height → platform. Many stairwells use the Max for the field and a small setup for the top-of-wall detail.
Does paint travel through the pole?
No — Hyde states the anodized pole carries no paint; the fluid path stays with gun and hose (further mechanism detail awaits the manual).
Is an injection wound really urgent if it barely bleeds?
Urgently, yes — the pinhole hides a spreading surgical emergency. ER now, say "high-pressure injection injury," name the fluid (section 2).
