Stand, push, weight down the pole

Can I demolish tile with it?
No — it scrapes and preps; it does not break bonded ceramic out of a bed. That is the struck hammer scrapers' job (19430/19440/19450); use them first, then this tool to clean up.
The floor might be from the 1970s — is that a problem?
Yes, potentially a serious one. Pre-1980s resilient flooring, its backing, and black cutback adhesive can contain asbestos, and old slabs carry silica. If it isn't documented, have it sampled by an accredited professional before scraping — a positive result is an abatement job, not a scraping job.
