A single incident. One fist-size hole wants the 09899 single, not forty-nine spares. The 50-pack is for recurring larger-hole work.
Doorknob holes as the main diet. If most of your holes are 2-inch doorknob strikes, the 4x4 box (09903) is your deep-turnover stock and this is the companion box for the bigger ones — not the other way around.
Beyond the plate's limits, in bulk. Hand-size holes past the 6x6 margin (step to the 8x8, 09008 25-pack), curved/textured/overhead surfaces (fabric), dents and nail holes (filler/spackle), gloss walls where flatness is everything (cut in) — quantity doesn't move any of these boundaries (see 09899, §4).
the margin scales with the plate (a full inch of sound wall around a ~4-inch hole); feather the whole ~18 inches; stroke across and past every edge; prime, then inspect in raking light. In bulk the added discipline is standardizing the wide feather so no unit gets shorted — the 6-inch mound is the one crews are most tempted to under-feather when they're moving fast. Old walls (pre-1978) carry the same lead/asbestos caution; the patch-over disturbs almost nothing.

Who buys the 6x6 box specifically?
Turnover, facilities, and repair crews who meet fist- and furniture-corner holes routinely and want the bigger plate stocked, not shopped-for per incident.
Why does it turn over slower than the 4x4 box?
Because fist-size holes are less common than doorknob holes — this box is insurance, the 4x4 box (09903) is the daily driver.
Does the box speed up the repair?
No — each fist-size hole still needs full prep and an ~18-inch feather. The box means you don't run out mid-job.
