Steer by bow, not by muscle

Thumb pressure at the handle center bows the double-hollow-ground blade to leave a joint slightly proud for sanding; pressure to a corner feathers that side out. Angle: low to lay compound, raised to strike it off level. Edge: stainless holds a clean square edge; dress it with a file if it dents, but it will not need the frequent attention carbon does. Wash-up: rinse and rack — that is the entire ritual. There is no drying step, which over a career is the quiet reason many remodelers own nothing but stainless.
