Scraping, stripping, and paint removal — the very jobs its shelved name implies. A flexible blade bows away from a hard failure; it is the wrong half of the trade for removal. Use a stiff scraper.
Heavy or bonded material. It flexes and chatters against anything that fights back; even in apply work it is a spot-and-finish blade, not a demolition tool.
Striking or prying. No striking boss, no lever design, and a flexible blade least of all.
Career or production finishing. Value scope — light or occasional; the pro joint knives are the all-day tools.

Is the 04352 a scraper?
No — it's a flexible joint knife (Hyde's own product family), a fill-and-finish blade for applying compound. It's listed under the scraper name, which is the trap; the blade flexes and belongs to the apply half of the trade.
Can I strip paint with it?
You shouldn't — a flexible blade bows away from a hard failure and chatters. For removal, use a stiff scraper (start with its twin, the 04401).
What's the difference between the 04352 and the 04401?
Same 3" width and Value family, opposite tools: the 04352 flexes to apply compound; the 04401 is stiff and strips. This is the single most important distinction on the page.
What is it good at?
Applying and smoothing spackle and joint compound in small, light, or occasional fills — the finish half of a small repair.
Why does it exist in the scraper aisle at all?
A shelving/naming artifact — it's a flexible joint knife sold under the Value "scraper" label. The honest reading is the gate at the top of this guide.
Lead paint?
