  • Seams want a 4"–6" for the tape coat and 8–12" taping knives for the fill and skim.
  • Leveling and skim work belong to the wide blades.
  • And despite the "/Scraper" name, it is not a stiff removal tool — flexible carbon bows off a dried ridge; the stiff chisel 02601 shears through it.

How the pros run it

Load light, land flat

three inches holds little compound, so work in small bites and keep the blade flat to the wall. Steer by bow: even on a narrow blade, center pressure crowns and corner pressure feathers — useful for taking a spot down to nothing. Guard the edge: a nicked 3" prints a tram-line just as a wide one does; dress a dinged edge flat. Carbon care: wash and dry the moment you're off the wall — a babied carbon blade outlasts stainless, a neglected one pits. The 3" is also the knife most often abused as a filler-mixer and can-opener; it survives it, but a gouged edge finishes worse.

Lightly at most; it's a flexible blade. Real scraping wants the stiff chisel 02601.
Can I tape a seam with a 3"?
No — too narrow; it leaves a ridge in the tapered recess. Use a 4"–6".
What's it actually best at?
Spotting screws and filling small patches in tight spots a wider blade can't reach.
Difference from the 02352?
The 02352 is ground thinner for more flex — a feathering blade; this one is the loader.
Carbon or stainless?
Carbon (this) tunable, must dry; stainless (01340) for no maintenance.
