Is it a sander?
No — it cuts nothing and takes no abrasive. It's the dust-wipe bonnet for the 9" radial platform; the sanding is the 09977's job, before this mounts.
What does it fit?
Per Hyde: 9" round sanders, by drawstring — in this catalog, the 09977 radial head. The package confirms the 9"/225mm size.
Why not just prime over the dust?
Because primer bonds to what it touches, and on an unwiped wall it touches powder: shedding, flashing, and peel-back-to-chalk are the standard failures. The pass exists because the failures do (2a).
Do I still need it with a dust-free sander?
On finish-critical work, yes — extraction removes most of the dust at the source; the wipe closes what settles regardless. The pass shrinks; it doesn't vanish (2d).
Can I wash it?
Standard microfiber practice says yes — no fabric softener, air or low-heat dry — offered here as trade care guidance , since Hyde's claims state material and function, not maintenance.
Can I use it damp, or to wash walls?
Its job as built is the dry room-scale wipe; wet work exceeds anything claimed for it and re-activates compound dust into smear . Detail damp-wiping is a hand-cloth job.
Does the foam backing matter?
It's the claims' own performance note — the cushion that keeps the rigid head from scuffing finished compound. If the wipe feels like pressure, ease off; the foam is telling you the head is arriving.
