  • Textured or masonry surfaces (no fibers to reach, and foam tears on rough substrates); big walls (too little paint to hold a wet edge, and it's a mini); sustained production (foam wears faster than fabric). And it is not a 1/2"-nap texture cover — a lightly textured wall wants a 1/2" fabric nap (9" Woven-Ultra 47330 or E-volution 47300), never this foam.

How the pros run it

Load light and often

foam carries little paint, which is the price of the finish. Keep the pace slow and the pressure gentle: pushed hard or fast, foam can shed bubbles into the film, and in a quick latex they can set before they burst and leave a pocked surface; slow passes and a feathering one-direction lay-off let the coat flow. No de-linting is ever required — foam has no fibers to shed, so every one of the four meets paint clean from the wrapper. Rinse-and-reuse is sometimes possible on waterborne coats; on solvent coats, discard — which is exactly the economy a four-count supports.

No — it's the foam thickness. This is a smooth-surface gloss/varnish cover.
Which paints?
Latex and oil, plus water-based varnishes.
Bubbles in the finish?
Slow down and lighten up; feather the last pass. Fast latex is the usual culprit.
Four — why?
Foam is use-and-discard; four matches a multi-piece gloss or clear-coat run.
De-lint?
Never needed — no fibers.
