DO NOT FORCE THE FIT
  • Abrasive masonry — the defining boundary. Brick, block, coarse stucco, split-face — the filaments tear. This is the exact case where the same-nap General-Purpose knit (99304) is the correct cover and this microfiber is the wrong one, and getting it backwards ruins a good cover on the first wall.
  • Smooth and light-texture walls. A 3/4″ nap over-textures anything smooth-to-light — heavy stipple, spatter, fat edges. Those walls belong to the shorter Ultra Touch naps (1/4″ 99521, 1/2″ 99524) or the economy grades.
  • The deepest rough masonry. Coarse stucco and unfilled CMU that want the catalog's 1-1/4″ rough-masonry hero (another sub-set) out-rough this cover on depth and abrasion at once — doubly wrong for microfiber.
  • Epoxy floors. Lint-free woven only.

How the pros run it

01

Press light even at depth

The instinct with a long nap is to bear down; with microfiber that floods the stored paint and runs the film. Reach the valleys by flexing the loaded nap into them under a light hand, not by compression. Load full — the deep nap is a large tank, and deep texture is thirsty; use the capacity, reload on sound. Multi-direction first pass, single-direction lay-off to coat a topography evenly, then unify the stipple. Test abrasion before committing on any surface you're unsure about — one stroke tells you whether the surface is chewing the filaments. Rinse deeply and patiently: a deep microfiber nap holds a lot of paint low in the matrix; wash until the water runs clear, spin hard, dry on end. A quality microfiber is a keep-and-reuse cover — worth the wash on non-abrasive work; sacrificed only if a marginal surface has already torn it. Overnight: wrap airtight.

Asked at the counter

BUYER QUESTIONS ANSWERED BEFORE THE CART, NOT AFTER THE RETURN
Heavy-knockdown wall or textured ceiling I want to look finished — is this the one?
Yes, as long as the surface isn't abrasive: the deep microfiber nap reaches the texture and lays a low-stipple, low-spatter finish (§2a, §2b).
Can I use it on brick or block?
No — that's the defining limit. Microfiber tears on masonry; use the General-Purpose 3/4″ (99304) on abrasive surfaces (§1, §4, §5).
How do I know if a surface will tear it?
Test one stroke in an inconspicuous spot — if the surface is chewing the filaments, it's knit-class territory (§3).
Why 3/4″ in a finish cover at all?
Because some deep textures are not abrasive — heavy knockdown, textured ceilings, deep plaster — and those deserve both reach and finish (§1).
What's the fiber?
Classed microfiber by the line taxonomy; the per-SKU record states the series, not a separate fiber .
