How the pros run it

Eye protection first — the real hazard

A working wire brush throws the debris you're removing and sheds broken bristle wires; impact-rated glasses or goggles go on before the first stroke, every time. Cut with the tips. Let the bristle ends do the work in overlapping strokes; mashing the face flat bends wire and slows the cut, and the big face makes that temptation stronger. Use the length.
