the lightest possible — own weight of a loose pad, no more (2b). Fold: open fully, bunch loose, refold to fresh faces constantly; gray = done lifting, starting to re-deposit. Sequence: vacuum/brush → tack → coat immediately; never tack early, never tack over wet solvent. Retirement: when every face is loaded gray. Storage: sealed bag or jar between uses (2f). The one thing it is not: a broom — loaded with heavy dust a vacuum should have taken, a tack cloth quits early and starts smearing. It is a finisher, used last, on an already-clean-looking surface.

How hard do I press?

Can I use it with water-based (waterborne) finishes?
