Wet, low, one direction — every time

A filmed surface floats chips and prevents scratching; a shallow angle shaves instead of chiseling; a single push direction avoids dragging grit back across the glass. Spend edges freely. Standard single-edge razor blades; the 13050 ships with 5 (the same tool is also sold with 1 or with none). Spend them freely — a fresh edge is the cure for skipping and scratching.
What makes it "heavy-duty" versus a cheap razor holder?

When would I pick the low-profile 13045 instead?
When the glass is under a sash, in a channel, or at a framed edge, or when the target is delicate. The Delta is a broad-field production tool; the 13045 is a shallow-clearance finesse tool.
Will it scratch glass?
Only with a dry surface, a high angle, or a dull/nicked blade — the three causes of nearly every razor scratch. Wet it, keep the angle low, swap the edge the moment it skips, and test tempered glass in a corner first.
Can I use it on wood, plastic, or painted trim?
No — razor scrapers are for hard, smooth, non-porous surfaces only. On soft or porous material the edge cuts in; use a putty knife or wall scraper there.
