The hopper's geometry: gravity feed wants the hopper generally upright — partial loads overhead, refill often, and let the compressor recover while you pour. The valve: flow off between passes and at every repositioning, so setup moments don't spatter the floor; per Hyde's claims it exists for exactly that control. The wash-out: at every break, total — the gun's whole service life is downstream of this one habit. Eyes: protected under every ceiling pass. The board: no pattern goes on a wall that hasn't appeared on a test board first.

Will my compressor run it?
Check the plate for continuous CFM delivery, not PSI and not tank size: the spec is a minimum of 6-1/2 CFM at 25 PSI, drawn continuously while spraying. If delivery falls short, the gun sprays fine for seconds and then the pattern coarsens mid-wall (2e).
What are the three nozzle sizes?
Three nozzles ship per Hyde's claims; their diameters are stated nowhere Hyde publishes , so this store won't invent them. In practice: smallest toward orange peel, largest for aggregate popcorn, middle for spatter work — proven on a test board.
Can it spray paint?
Not as a finish coat — no pump, no fine atomization. Gravity-flow materials only; paint-spraying belongs to airless equipment.
Can it remove a popcorn ceiling?
No — nothing in this line removes texture, and a pre-1980s ceiling may contain asbestos: test before disturbing, and treat removal as an abatement question (2c).
What materials is it rated for?
Hyde's list: acoustics, drywall, glitter, waterproofing, "and other gravity flow materials." The test is the name — if it feeds by weight and atomizes at the nozzle, it's a candidate (2g).
Do I need a knockdown knife too?
For knockdown, yes — the gun is act one, the knife is act two (09997 for walls and patches, 09998 for open ceilings). For orange peel and popcorn, the gun works alone.
Why does my sprayed pattern have little craters?
Air whipped into the mix during mixing — bubbles pop as they land. Fix it in the pail (mixers line), not at the nozzle.
