Is this the right tool for your job?

CHOOSE THIS WHEN
  • Ultra-Thin Microfiber Blend: Constructed from a dense matrix of microscopic fibers that hold up to three times more paint than a standard roller cover.
  • Flawless, Spray-Like Finish: Automatically levels and distributes paint with virtually zero stipple, yielding a mirror-smooth look.
  • Maximum Shed Resistance: Tightly locked, premium synthetic filaments prevent lint and loose fibers from shedding into wet paint.
DO NOT FORCE THE FIT
  • Walls. A 1/4" nap on a full wall starves and skips — it carries too little paint to keep a wet edge, so you reload endlessly and still risk holidays. Walls are a 3/8" cover's job (its own 6" version is the 47357; a room is a 9" cover's job entirely).
  • Any texture. Orange-peel, knockdown, sand-finish plaster — the 1/4" nap bridges the valleys and paints only the peaks, and the surface reads unpainted the moment light rakes it. Texture wants a longer nap and, if it is masonry, a different fabric.
  • Masonry and rough exterior. Microfiber snags and tears on stucco, brick, and block regardless of nap — Hyde says so plainly. That is the Lamb Pro polyester family's work (47365, 47366).
  • Big smooth fields where speed matters. Even on a smooth surface, if the area is large, the 6" width and low-capacity nap make it slow; step to a 9" for the field and keep the 47355 for the pieces.

How the pros run it

01

Substrate first

A near-spray finish is a lie if the primer under it is rough — degrease, sand smooth, prime, and sand the primer before this cover ever touches the piece; the 1/4" nap reveals what a long nap would hide. Thin coats, light hand. E-volution's capacity is high by design; a light load lays a full thin film, and thin films level while thick films sag and run on the vertical faces of a door. Pre-dampen for waterborne enamel so the first load reaches the surface. Do not overwork a setting film — one confident pass and lay-off; going back over enamel that has begun to skin drags it into ridges. De-lint once with painter's tape. Wash to clear water — microfiber holds paint deep and rinses slowly; stop at clear, and dry the cover on end so it keeps its face. A 2-pack means a fresh cover is ready when the first is drying, which on a multi-door kitchen keeps the job moving.

Asked at the counter

BUYER QUESTIONS ANSWERED BEFORE THE CART, NOT AFTER THE RETURN
What surfaces is the 1/4" nap for?
Smooth, defined, finish-critical ones — cabinet doors, drawer fronts, furniture and shelf faces, gloss panels (§2). Not walls, not texture.
Can I paint a wall with it?
You shouldn't — a 1/4" nap starves on a wall and you'll reload endlessly (§4). Use the 3/8" 47357 for a lightly textured surface, a 9" for a room.
1/4" or 3/8" in the 6" size?
Smooth gloss → 1/4" (47355); light texture or more paint per dip → 3/8" (47357). It's a surface-and-sheen decision (§5).
Will it really look sprayed?
Hyde claims a "spray-like," near-zero-stipple finish for the microfiber; on properly primed smooth stock with thin coats it comes remarkably close (§2a). The claim is Hyde's; the prep is yours.
What's in the pack?
Two 6" covers, no frame.
Is it washable and reusable?
Yes — it's a premium microfiber; wash to clear water and dry on end (§3). It's a keep cover, not a throwaway.

official description
E-Volution Advanced Microfiber Ultra-Thin Microfiber Blend: Constructed from a dense matrix of microscopic fibers that hold up to three times more paint than a standard roller cover. Flawless, Spray-Like Finish: Automatically levels and distributes paint with virtually zero stipple, yielding a mirror-smooth look. Maximum Shed Resistance: Tightly locked, premium synthetic filaments prevent lint and loose fibers from shedding into wet paint. Exceptional Splatter Control: Capillary action within the micro-filaments locks the paint inside the nap, reducing drips and messy splatters during overhead work. Ideal For All Sheen Levels: Flawlessly applies every finish from flat and matte to semi-gloss and high-gloss enamels. Critical Lighting Areas: Perfect for Interior spaces like large ceilings and walls exposed to direct sunlight, as it eliminates lap marks and tracks. Smooth to Semi-Smooth Surfaces: Optimally engineered for drywall, plaster, ceilings, wood trim, and smooth-rendered walls. Limitations Higher Paint Release Control Required: The massive paint capacity requires a lighter touch; pressing too hard can cause the roller to overload the wall or drip. Longer Cleaning Time: The incredibly dense microscopic fiber web holds onto paint tightly, requiring a more thorough and rigorous rinsing process to clean completely. Not for Aggressive Textures: Rough surfaces like heavy stucco, brick, or cinder blocks will snag, fray, and quickly tear up the delicate microfiber filaments. Key Differences from 100% Polyester Paint Capacity and Speed: Advanced Microfiber holds significantly more paint per dip than standard 100% polyester, allowing you to paint up to three times further before returning to the tray. Finish Smoothness vs. Stipple texture: Standard polyester leaves a noticeable, bumpy "orange peel" stipple pattern on walls. Microfiber lays the paint down so evenly it mimics the glass-smooth look of a commercial paint sprayer. Splatting and Mess: Standard polyester is prone to spraying micro-droplets and splattering paint everywhere when rolled quickly. Microfiber absorbs and locks the paint in place, resulting in a much cleaner, virtually splatter-free work environment. Premium Investment vs. Disposable: Standard polyester is a cheap, disposable commodity. Advanced Microfiber is a premium contractor-grade product that commands a higher retail price but delivers vastly superior results. — OFFICIAL EXACT MODEL
