A wallpaper shaver stops working gradually. Paste loads the edge, the edge rounds or nicks, the tool begins to chatter, and the operator adds pressure. That pressure is what gouges plaster, tears drywall face, or scratches glass.

Diagnose edge trouble before changing

A new blade will not correct:

soft water-damaged drywall;

hard coating or adhesive outside the shaver method;

Move the substrate/job back to its owning process.

For older wallcovering removal, do not sand or scrape suspect old textured/patching material without assessment. Do not compare widths with a tape and call the mount compatible.

Clean the head before opening

Change the 33100 or 33110 without inventing hardware

Accepted claims say only that the angled head holds a replaceable blade. They do not state screw, clamp, slide, button, tool, or torque.

Use the physical parent instructions:

Identify the actual retaining system.

Use only its specified change tool.

Control the old blade before release.

Preserve hardware order/orientation.

Clean the seat.

Install the verified width/blade.

secure to the specified condition.

Reinstall any guard/cover.

Do not claim these metal shavers change slower or faster than 33120. Their mechanism is simply unknown in accepted evidence.

Handle the old blade as a wall-width sharp

The removed blade may be dull at its working edge and razor-sharp elsewhere.

lay it flat on the bench;

put it in a pocket;

drop it in an open bag;

hand it edge-first;

leave it under paper;

use bare fingers to wipe paste.

Place it directly into the approved rigid/sleeved container. If the site uses a wrapping method, follow that exact procedure and waste rules.

This line contains no accepted used-blade chamber. Do not represent the fresh 5-pack sleeves as spent-blade disposal devices without manufacturer permission.

Inspect seating and exposure

Under raking light, check:

even exposure across the head;

no bowed blade;

corners fully retained;

no gap/debris under blade;

lock/clamp complete;

no loose hardware;

handle/head undamaged.

Do not run a fingertip along the edge. Use visual inspection and the manual’s safe check.

An edge projecting more on one side will steer the tool and concentrate force.

Do not flip 33100/33110 blades by borrowing the 33120 claim.

Choose dedicated stock for a known parent

For a verified 33100 fleet, the 3-1/4-inch 33150 five-pack is the dedicated lead.

For verified 33110/33120 fleets, the 4-inch 33170 five-pack is the dedicated lead.

Advantages of dedicated labeled stock:

immediate width recognition;

less chance of wrong resizing;

accepted pack count;

simpler issue record.

Preserve that note in the stock card.

Count ready blades, not packages

The 33150 and 33170 each have an accepted five-blade count. Record unopened packages, loose verified ready blades, installed blades, spent blades, and quarantined blades separately.

A partly used five-pack is not five ready changes. Inspect/count through a safe method without emptying wall-width edges onto a bench.

The 33255 has no accepted pack count, so do not assign it an inventory quantity from a store photograph or neighboring product.

Set replenishment from actual change history and the consequence of a room stopping mid-strip.

Gate universal stock for a mixed fleet

The 33255 “Universal” identity suggests a mixed-fleet role, but its mechanism and served widths are unaccepted.

Do not stock it as the only blade until:

package names every active parent;

conversion/selection method is documented;

the crew is trained;

resulting edge is safe/straight;

pack count and replenishment unit are known;

used remainder is controlled.

If any answer is absent, keep dedicated 33150/33170 stock and quarantine the universal assumption.

Set a local replacement trigger

rooms/wall area only as local context;

paper type and layers;

soak/release condition;

No shaver-blade life claim exists.

Do not reward crews for “making a blade last” after it tears or gouges. Sharpness is the tool’s control surface.

Store blades without damaging edges

edges dry/clean;

heavy tools off the packages;

dedicated and universal stock distinct;

partial packages counted safely;

spent containers closed;

Do not remove blades from packaging for loose-bin storage. Model identity, width, edge protection, and safe handling disappear together.

Date opened packages and keep their labels with the remaining stock. A count without model identity cannot support a controlled change.

33255 is snapped to size from the store title. Stop; accepted evidence says Universal but does not establish the mechanism.

33110 is opened with an assumed screw method. Return to its physical instructions; the mechanism is unverified.

33120’s blade shifts. Stop and re-engage/inspect both locks through its procedure.

Glass scratches under a fresh blade. Stop; inspect debris/glass condition and change the method.

A removed blade sits on the paste table. Move it directly to the approved rigid spent route and inspect the area.

Five-pack sleeves are used as disposal bins. Use a purpose-approved spent container unless the package explicitly permits return.

Blade life is expressed as rooms per blade. Remove it; release chemistry and substrate dominate.
