How the pros run it

The wide blade demands a flatter, steadier pole

Ten inches overhead wants to lift off true against gravity more than eight does; keep the pole roll smooth and the pressure even across the full width, or one corner rides high and prints a line. On broad flat lids this is easy; in anything crowded, the width works against you — that's the 6"'s territory.

Overlap deliberately

The wide pass only pays off if each swath overlaps the last cleanly; plan your lanes on a big ceiling the way you'd plan roller lanes.

Carbon, so dry it

High-carbon blade — wash and wipe dry after water-based compound or it rusts; the brass pins won't. Dress the edge square with a mill file when it dulls or dents; on a wide blade a nicked edge prints across the whole pass.
