Is this the right tool for your job?

CHOOSE THIS WHEN
  • The HYDE ® Molding Puller was designed to remove baseboard, trim, and other molding materials from walls without damage to those materials.
  • Due to its heavy duty construction, this molding puller also excels at a secondary use for tile, carpet and other types of flooring removal.
DO NOT FORCE THE FIT
  • Not a wrecking bar — stud walls, sheathing, pallets, and structural demolition are mass-and-length work, off the claims and out of scope.
  • Not the painted-shut-window tool — a sash bonded by paint wants its film sawn, and a driven wedge near glass is exactly the accident the 45200 exists to prevent; that entire job belongs to the sawtooth.
  • Not a joint excavator — dead caulk, grout, and mortar want the 43670's points.
  • Not a scraper — coating removal from surfaces is the scrapers line's trade.
  • And not a framing-demolition nail puller — the claimed puller and the technique above are finish-trim scale; sinkers and ring-shanks want a cat's paw and a different aisle.

How the pros run it

01

Hammer discipline

a middleweight hammer swung with control beats a heavy one swung hard. The wedge advances in taps, and each tap's feedback tells you whether the board is walking or binding. Hold behind the guard: the claimed hand guard exists because no one's aim is perfect all day; keep the steadying hand fully behind it and never choke past it mid-swing. Back every strike with framing: drive at nail lines and stud locations, where wall and board can take it — the claimed geometry spreads force, it does not repeal it. Plaster is not drywall: on wood-lath plaster, halve everything — lighter taps, more locations, more patience — because plaster fails invisibly, cracking its keys behind the surface and showing it a week later. Eyes, every time: sprung finish nails let go without warning, and struck steel sheds chips; this line classes trim removal as an eye-protection job, and the glasses are part of the tool. Keep the wedge clean: dried adhesive and paint on the wedge faces fatten its effective angle; scrape it back to bare steel so entry stays thin.

Asked at the counter

BUYER QUESTIONS ANSWERED BEFORE THE CART, NOT AFTER THE RETURN
Will it really not damage the drywall?
The claims say the geometry exists for exactly that, and §1 explains why it works. §2a is your half of the contract: score the seal, enter at nails, walk the line. Claimed geometry plus technique is the no-patch outcome.
Do I need a hammer?
Yes — driven entry is the design; "withstands hammering" is printed. That is also the sharpest difference from its 45610 shelf-mate, whose record rates no striking at all.
Can I actually reuse the trim?
That is the design brief verbatim — "without damage to those materials" — plus your labeling and back-pulling discipline (§2b–2c). Expect solid wood to survive; expect glued MDF to argue.
What are its dimensions and weight?
Unpublished anywhere in the record . This store will not invent them.
Is it a tile tool?
It opens tile, carpet, and flooring tear-outs per the claimed secondary use, then hands the field to the scrapers line's two-hand tools (§2d).
What about the nails left in the wall?
Standing nails: the integrated puller with a shielded bearing point. Nails riding in the boards: through the back, always (§2c).

official description
The HYDE ® Molding Puller was designed to remove baseboard, trim, and other molding materials from walls without damage to those materials. Due to its heavy duty construction, this molding puller also excels at a secondary use for tile, carpet and other types of flooring removal. The patent pending HYDE ® Molding Puller design has a built-in “wedge” feature on the 90-degree angle that can safely be driven between the materials. It works by spreading the applied force out along a larger surface area and gradually increasing the angle away from the wall to avoid damage. Heavy duty steel body Wedge for easy extraction Built-in nail puller Superior, no-slip handle Hand guard Durable finish withstands hammering Sturdy construction — will not bend or break Built to last a lifetime! — OFFICIAL EXACT MODEL
