Textured walls (3/8" bridges the valleys). Rough masonry — a 3/8" nap is a smooth-surface nap no matter the fabric, and there is no reaching stucco or block with it. Glass-smooth gloss on cabinet doors (foam or 1/4" microfiber own that). And whole walls — that is the 9"'s job; painting a room with a 4" mini is choosing the wrong width, not a worse cover.

Light hand
the nap delivers the paint, and pressing only squeezes fat edges off the ends of a short cover. Load by rolling up a tray screen or a mini grid until the whole 4" face is saturated but not dripping. On water-based paint, dampen and spin the cover first so the first load goes onto the wall instead of disappearing into dry fibers. De-linting is barely necessary on woven — the yarn is interlocked so the fibers can't escape, which is the entire case for woven over a bargain knit mini — but a quick tape-wrap-and-rip on a brand-new cover costs nothing. Lay off each small section with one near-weightless final pass in a single direction. In Hyde's own words for the Woven-Ultra family, the fabric gives excellent results with every paint from latex flats to high-gloss enamels, resists matting, and stays resilient through a full working day — so it neither sheds into your sheen coat nor goes slack halfway through.

Is 3/8" right for my surface?
If it's smooth-to-lightly-textured drywall or plaster, yes. If your palm can feel orange-peel or knockdown, you want a longer nap — offered in this line at 9" (47330 in 1/2"), not in this 4" mini.
Will it shed into my paint?
Woven-Ultra is built lint-free; the interlocked yarn can't release fibers. That is the reason to buy woven over a knit mini.
Can I get a sprayed-looking cabinet finish?
No — it leaves a fine stipple. Use foam (47348) or 1/4" microfiber for that.
What frame fits it?
A 4" mini frame — a wire spindle, or a metal-cage mini for firmer support under pressure.
Two covers for a closet-and-trim day — enough?
One does the work; the second lets you change coats without stopping to wash.
